Re: GoPro cameras
I have the Hero 2 also and have done some tests with it mounted on my truck luggage rack. I do like the resolution options but have held off on the LCD hoping for the WIFI remote, but multiple delays, now this summer, may cause me to get the LCD. The going rumor is that the WIFI option will run arou...

Re: Chillin offshore with Jerron "Tandem Island fishing"
Very nice rig! Glad to see it in action too. I am also curious how it handles single handed. Also when single handing do you sit in the front or rear seat? I need to get myself BTB also to try out my new Avet JX 6/3 MC! It hollered at me last Friday when I went out to the deer lease to do some maint...

Re: The Reel Experiance
Daniel,
Yeah I understand and still have your phone in case something does jump at us. I hope to get the GoPro WIFI remote next month so I can use my phone as a remote and video streamer. If funds look good maybe another Hero2 with remote by June..

Re: The Reel Experiance
Well that is disappointing. I do not think I can wait for June. So I will be looking for sometime in March to get it wet, on a "good" day. It may be High Island, Roll Over Pass, BA16, or something like that. I will be looking for some of the BTB group heading out that will let me tag along...

Re: The Reel Experiance
Hey that was supposed to be going to my casa!! I figured you would get jealous! My downside is that the mini cd that has the manual on it was damaged in shipping so I cannot look at the manual and Avet does not have them on line (the parts list is on line with the exploded view is on line). Hope we...

The Big Store only has sales rep. to sell permits on Sat. I am on my way back down as I could not buy one on Friday.... Update: I just finished getting my permit and had a very pleasant chat with the lady that issues them. They are $5 until the last day of Feb. then they are $10 the rest of the year...

Re: The Reel Experiance
When I am this close jigging next to a rig, I do not anchor that this close range. I attach the yak with a rope/shock cord that I attach to the rig with my custom rig hook that I make from parts at Home Depot or Lowes. Thanks for the input. Now I see how you do it. Any chance of sharing a photo of ...

I am sure glad you understand what I was talking about. I really just need to replace my Penn 320GTI with a better reel that can handle bigger fish, and thats just the basic of this whole reel hunting post. :) I am still thinking of getting the Avet LX, I too want to have a shot of pulling up those...

Re: The Reel Experiance
Once again I appreciate everyone’s feed back, this will be my very first expensive reel so I thought I would get some support or help on the forum, so I dont make a mistake later. After thinking about the max drag again, I still think 45pounds is a bit over kill for a yak. With that said, I have na...

Good read and thanks to all of the contributors. My tax return arrived yesterday and I ordered the Avet JX MC 2 speed for my big rig completion, in blue.

I think I saw some in the display case at ACK, worse case you might have to drill the existing holes slightly. I got the whole setup out of NZ, but bought some other items that made the overall price lower. Go parcel Post as it is WAY cheaper than FEDEX, I did not even insure.

Re: Got a leak and need to find/fix.
I went up to ACK yesterday (you always need something from there), and they told me to bring it up on Sun. as it was under warranty. They found a hairline crack at the bottom interface of one of the scuppers. Now it is up to OC to decide what to do. I should know in a week. As usual ACK staff were f...

Good one too, I like it and will try that before I take it outside and put water in it!nick220722 wrote:You could wait until it's dark and shine a flashlight on the inside of the yak and see if you can find a hole that way.

Re: Got a leak and need to find/fix.
3 cups not really a lot.. i would use marine goop and coat the inside then take it out again.. also check he rudder lines and double check the plug. The main issue with this solution is there is only one hatch in the Ultimate 4.7 so no way to reach the scupper interfaces to the bottom hull from the...

Re: Got a leak and need to find/fix.
For me, after 4 hours on the water, 3 cups just isn't enough to worry about. I know a new kayak often is bone dry, but with use, things change. I would guess one or more of your hatches leaked. I doubt you find a leak with only 3 cups found. Good luck! I got in Sept., so pretty new (5-6 trips). The...

Got a leak and need to find/fix.
My last trip I was in the water for around 4 hours, and found 3 cups of water in it. Locating: Is the best way to elevate, I have Talic "sawhorses", and put water in until you see drips? I suspect it will be one of the scuppers as I do not see a damage area to indicate a hole. Repair: Prob...
