 Bluffer's 04 Drifter Rigging

The 04 model drifter has a area for a 6in hatch well but you can install a 8" hatch there instead. Also this allows the top to sit alot higher so no water will get on it. First cut out the hole along the recessed edge, no template is need since this is the perfect diameter.Next take the ring w/gasket it posistion it where it has to be. Then drill a hole & bolt/screw it down ( I used stainless screws with wellnuts, the nuts are on a rubber sleeve & this works good for the irregular surface area & squeezes in nice) then drill another hole 180 away from the 1st hole & screw it down. Do the same with 2 more screws oppsite sides. Now you have 4 screws in like a cross pattern bolted down drill out the remaing 8 holes. Next remove the 4 screws & ring. Then sand 1in up & clean the area along the rim. Apply a thick bead of "lexal" material. This stuff works better than silicone cuz it stickyer. this will seal the low areas around the ring. Bolt the ring in using a criss-cross bolting pattern. this will pull the irregular surface to the ring & the lexal material fills in the rest real good. Use acetone for any cleanup & your done. Note, If it seems hard to screw down the cover place your hand on the seat & press. It goes down real ez when you sit in the seat & do it. (releaves pressure)

I ordered the 8" dryhatch with 12 wellnuts & stainless screws and Lexal material all from kayakfishingstuff.com
