Post by Fin-Addict »

Which teasers do you buy for your spoons. I was at Academy last week looking for some but couldn't find any

I have heard of people using strips of Gulp on the back of weedless spoons.

Aquarium rubber tubing. Color them how you want, cut them in sections, and cut slits in them to make a skirt kinda look out of them

Hey, that's not a bad idea. You could custom make a zillion for next to nothing. Do they stay on very well?

On my gold Johnson Sprites I replace the treble hook with a red circle hook and tie different colored bucktail to the hook shank (red/white, chart./white, etc.)

I fish them right out of the pack. Long, Machinegun Kelly casts. Worked just fast enough to keep it out of the grass and off the shell.

Pink fishbites. Cut them in half lengthwise.

Have you guys noticed that the teasers that come with the Johnson Sprites effect the spoon's action?

I have taken and put a swimming mullet Gulp as a trailer on the back of a weedless spoon. I rigged it to where most of the body was on the hook and the tail was hanging off the back and fluttered like crazy when working the spoon. The few times I tried it, the fish seemed to like it.

I buy a pak of baloons and cut the end out of them and fray them up with scissors.
they fit easily on to a hook and i have had good luck in Texas CIty on just about anything biting.

I usually don't add anything but have added skirts and trailers. I have used red bucktail, the curly part of a mister twister worm, croaker belly strips (greatest trick of all time) and have most recently bought a few Nemire Red Ripper rattling spoons. They have skirts that come with the spoons (as pictured on the site-link below) and have mylar strip tails available as well.

The red rippers may cost a little more but I really like the action and look right out of the box. I've been throwing it in the "winter algea", I don't know what you call it, but the lure stays pretty clean. The redfish seem to like it too.
