Black Bass on the Brazos 1/26/08

Post by RealBigReel »

I went to the Brazos today. This is only the 4th trip with my new Navigator.
I tried a new lure. I don't remember the name but it is a 1/4 ounce holographic curly tail. Worked good. Did not kill any. Caught several white bass 13-14". Caught some small Stripers and a couple of black bass. One of the black bass was the biggest fish so far in the Navigator.
Had something big and fast on but it spit the hook twice. Probably gar.
Nice Spottie. CPR

RealBigReel,
Congratulations on your bass! The water sure looks pretty and clear on that part of the river.

Great job! How clear and deep was the water? How were you fishing your bait?

Butch, Are you fishing by the Tin Top Bridge? I have done great there in the past but have not been there this year yet. Wondering if the crappie are still under those docks?

yes, if you go down tintop road (exit 51 stay on w. bound service road till next stopsign) and to the public boat ramp, there is hit or miss fishing, sometimes it is great sometimes not so much. Was there a week and a half ago I caught one white bass bout 1.5lbs and a friend caught a few crappie by the old bridge structure. Around that pile of scrap you can jig and in warmer weather catch a good limit of crappie. If you go left you can paddle down towards granbury and if you paddle right there is a nice inlet creek that eventually makes its way back to the river, good fish can be caught up there as well.
