The only penn reels made in the US are the gold internationals.
The new metal senator might be make here, though I doubt it.
I bought a new penn jigmaster back in 2005. the box said "MADE IN CHINA" and the reel had a made in china sticker on it.

I think Van Staals are still at least partly made in the USA--probably mainly their price is made in the USA.

Scott Fly Rods

Post by sushiman2000 »

Scott Fly Rods are made in America. Not only that but they are great patriots and supporters of our troops. When my brother in law was deployed in Iraq last year, Scott sent his unit around 10 rod and reels to practice their casting. Kudos to a great company.

Looks like you'll have to opt for the cane pole, if you can find one not imported from China...

I'm an "American fisherman", yet not "Made in the U.S.".

And to the OP who wants everything made in the U.S. only, good luck with that. Have you started this for everything surrounding you - food, vehicle parts, furniture, technology items, etc?

whats an OP? :? :) . No, so far its just for my hobby. Seeing all the stuff on tv and the papers lately about how we should support our own got me thinking is all. I know that just about everything I have, from cars to food is in some way made or made in/with foriegn parts or ingredients. To me its like recycling. I don't recycle everything but I do when I can. Same idea with buying american I guess. :)

If it does the job and is the right price, buy it. Why spend time looking for hen's teeth?

american made

Post by tishkayaker »

Good thinking FOC I try the sme thing. Some things are just made better in other countries though. I try to buy american made stuff unless the quality dictates otherwise. I live in a small town and we try to buy all we can from local merchants even though it costs more. Local merchants can't compete with chains but if we don't support them we will have to drive thirty miles everytime we want to buy something.

Falcon rods.

From the Falcon website:
"Thank you for purchasing a Falcon rod. We manufacture all our blanks and build the finished rods in the USA."
