This is way overdue, but still worth a post. Took a cruise up to Alaska and booked a Kayak fishing trip online for the day in Katchican, Alaska. We fished in an inlet on Pacific that was 200-400 feet deep just 40 yards off the bank. The salmon run was over but we did catch a few. Did better on the Halibut, rockfish and a cod fish. The water was glassy most of the day. Check out the bald eagle picking the rock fish we threw back. The guy has a nice little launch station. He grew up in Texas and moved up there and started a kayak fishing company. Pretty cool overall. If you ever go, and you love to fish... Do it.

The photo with the eagle in it is outstanding. To be that close to an eagle in a kayak. A once in a lifetime opportunity.

Until winter hits.
What an awesomely calm day you ended up with, that has to be a bit unusual. Sounds like a blast.
I am very surprised that they are using SOT style yaks, all we saw when we were up there were SINKs.

Nice pics. I have a few from my trip to Soldotna, AK. when I get my external hard drive back with all the pictures and music.
My avitar is of my king salmon from the Kenai River near Soldotna. I am planning a 2 week vacation back to Alaska in 2008.
My wife and I plan to eventually purchase property and build a lodge near Soldotna within 15 years.
