Hobie passport 12 stolen Galveston

Post by FromtheBend »

Had my blue hobie passport 12ft stolen last night in Galveston. From talking to my neighbors they stole a couple other kayaks as well. Heads up if you live in Galveston. Also if anyone sees a blue and white hobie for sale missing the drive, seat, paddle lmk.

I saw one matching this description tied up next to the Offats Bayou ramp on 61st Street around 7 pm. Right where the blue highlight is pictured below:

Sorry about that. I thought it was odd that it was tied up there, seemingly unattended, but then I presumed it was maybe for those folks that live on the sailboats, as I see them use kayaks and canoes as tender boats, but a Hobie Passport seemed out of place since I had never seen them use that high end of a craft before.

UPDATE: I took the boat out yesterday and saw the Passport connected to the junk sailboat next to the ramp. Pictures attached.

I am not saying it is yours or it is stolen, but it is odd that it would be kept there as a tender boat, without a Mirage drive. You could get a way cheaper kayak for that purpose. And the boat is clearly stacked up with crap.

Yes the thank you so much for the pictures, that lack of seat and drive is very suspicious. I’m going to check it out later today

Well, I want to to say thank you so much for posting the pictures and for keeping an eye out! I owe you a case of beer and a pack of lures! I ended up going down yesterday and talking with Galveston pd who came down promptly. The result was it was my kayak. They had a sign on the launch saying “kayak for sale”. Seems whoever was living on that sailboat had massively annoyed the police department as in the end 4 cars ended up coming out. The individual living onboard ended up being placed in the back of one of the cars. They had beaten the kayak up quite a bit but glad that they had consequences for stealing.

Shoffer, You Go !!!

Episode ended righteously.

If it's appropriate for the case, we'd love to hear the list of charges.

Excellent outcome & kudos to shoffer for the keen eye! Takes a real POS to steal what someone else spent their hard earned money on!

Thanks, all. I was overseas the last 10 days and not keeping up with the thread, but glad this turned out the way it did.

Way to go, Capt. Shoffer!
All those eyeball exercises I made you endure finally paid off!
I'm just surprised you didn't charge FromtheBend a legal fee for finding his kayak.
Keep up the good work and I'll put us on some solid gamefish in about 3 weeks... Image
