Frog Pattern

Working on a frog pattern for this upcoming spring. I'm wanting to mimic the small Cricket Frogs which litter the stream banks I fish. I also wanted a fly which has motion, not commotion, as I believe our Hill Country bass are spooked by too much noise. It's based off a "Pimple Popper Frog" and "Dedeaux Frog".

Nice, Josh. I always see frog lures with all sorts of spots and such on top. The fish below only see the white bellies. I went to a fly casting session with the CC Flyfishing Club, and one of the old-timers told me the real weapon for the Texas Coast is a green popper frog fly. Let us know how it works on the inland fish. Stay warm. TexasJim

The only tine I'be used a frog fly was on a golf course "lake" in Dallas. The bass were small, but they attacked the fly voraciously. The giant blue gills also thought it a delightful lunch.

Your fly looks awesome. It should please the hungry bass wherever you fish.

Nicely done Neumie. That's an awesome looking frog.
With those rabbit legs you'll definitely get a more subtle motion and action that bass love.
What size hook is that?
