Trick or Treat on the water

Post by Prof. Salt »

I don't fish very often (most of what I do is more like hunting with a rod and reel) but last night I dressed up in some waders and went fishing, looking for treats. I found a bunch along a drop-off on the edge of a grass flat, but only kept a few. One trout that appeared to be between 26 and 28" was very acrobatic and played a trick on me as it escaped beside the net, but that just added to the fun of the night. Cool weather and deep grass edges can be a nice combination if you don't mind shuffling along in the darkness. I was tossing a Z-man Diezel minnow in "the deal" color and ended the evening with nine trout and three reds. The three on the stringer measured 27.5, 26 and 22.5.
