The water left and took my fish with it

Post by GoDoe »

I am still catching at least a couple of fish every day but over the weekend the tide fell back to the "new normal", about 6" higher than the charts predict it to be. Last week the tide was running about 1' higher than predicted.

It doesn't sound like that big of a deal but it is in the places that I am fishing. It means fish or no fish. I am fishing flood water spots and the water is generally 1' deep or less so if you take away 6" of water now my fish can't get into the area or won't spend any time there.

It has made me have to fish in a little deeper water. I am catching more reds in the deeper water than I was in the flooded areas. In the last 3 fishing days I have caught 11 reds and 0 black drum. In the 6 fishing days before that I caught 30 black drum and 9 red fish. So that is kind of interesting.

We will see what today brings,

I am only fly fishing
