Paddled around the Mustang Island State Park yesterday and found lots of friends of the fishy variety.

Dang, that's another great haul.

Question: What do you do with all this meat?

I have an organized system where I give it to families from church and the neighborhood. It ensures the fish goes to good use and I’m not left with an overstuffed freezer, and it’s nice to help others.

I get it filleted and remove all the red meat, bag it and hand it out. Then I’m out of fish and *sigh* I need to go fishing again.

The closest rig is less than 2 miles and the others are all about 3 miles from the beach, but I did 14+ miles constantly moving around to find the fish. Kings can hold tight to structure sometimes, but other times they just seem to wander around looking for the right conditions. When you find a rig seemingly empty it could be busy an hour later. The fish that day were hiding deep and a few hundred yards away from the structures until they got hungry, and then they moved closer. At mid-day they got more active and started hunting closer to the rigs.
