Big Redfish, This Never Happens To Me!

Took out the kayak and fished Galveston West Bay starting off in the Marsh. Aggressive Ladyfish were hitting. Moved out over the reefs and just hit Rat Reds. Went shallow again and hooked up with a really nice Redfish. Caught a keeper Flounder in the Marsh. Ended up with a Texas Slam.

Great job. What part of West Bay, and what were you throwing at them?

Diss them all you want, but I love catching ladyfish on light tackle. Unless they're gobbling up all my $20 a quart shrimp...

I was using mostly Gulp swimming mullets in Glow. The ladyfish were tearing up the ends or cutting my line. But I do love their fight. Just not a fan of going through a container of gulp dealing with them. I fished the Marsh area around 8Mile and Confederate Reef. The Flounder I caught and the Redfish I missed was in the Marsh. I do a lot of Flounder fishing and post videos on the YouTube channel. Check it out.
