Friday we woke up and rolled back to Island Moorings Marina and launched relatively late, around 9:00 am to overcast skies. We paddled to the first flat and William (I believe) was the first to hook up on a red, which he was able to string up.

My sister joined us for the morning and we both setup to drift with topwaters; Spectrum Spook Jr for me and Electric Blue Hunchback for her. My sister caught her first red of the day on a hunchback on overcast skies.

Whit, as he does most trips, went on a hunting mission for fish and left the flat the rest of us were on. When the clouds broke around 11 am my sister and I really started to get on the fish. Here she is with her first slot red from her kayak.

I managed to land some fish on topwater, including a keeper red. When the topwater bite started to die off I switched the the grasswalker and strung up 3 trout. Whit finished with a solid trout and red for him. William and my sister each had a slot red.

We got off the water early afternoon and headed back to the cabin. That evening we were joined by my cousin and his girlfriend along with our coastal family's son and his wife. We had a big shrimp boil with Cuban cigars and rum for dessert.

A good day on the water and a wonderful night to celebrate good friends and family. Smoked a pre embargo cuban in honor of several fishing friends we lost this year. I'm sure their spirits were with us.

Tight lines my brothers.

Josh, did you ever aim your camera at Whit?
Otherwise, Whit, what are you paddling these days?

Whit tends to go rogue on these trips. In other words we have slightly different fishing styles so we're hardly ever within sight of each other unless one of us were on good fish, which really didn't happen this trip. He's still in his blue Tarpon 140.
