Mid Week Galveston Getaway - tomorrow

Hello everyone!
The wife and I are taking a one day spring break and are driving down to Galveston for a little tandem kayak fishing tomorrow.
With the wind coming out of the east, I am thinking we will launch at sportsman road and head over to Oxen Bayou since all of that should be pretty well protected.
Since we are both very new at this, anybody have any luck in the area recently that could lend a tip or two? I’m thinking we will be fishing with some cut mullet for reds with two rods, and I will be throwing some hard and soft plastics with another.
After, fishing in the AM, I plan on migrating over to the Texas City Dike or SLP so I will make sure to come back to the forum and post a couple fishing reports.
