I'm trying to really refine my tackle to save kayak space, and determine things I need to purchase to be more successful on the Highland Lakes (Buchanan, Inks, LBJ, Marble Falls, Travis). I'm pretty new to fishing artificial lures, and I fish for all species. Please help me out if you have any lure selection tips! Types of lures that work well for you, sizes, and colors. Anything would be helpful!
Right now, ones that have been doing well for me are:
Bass-
Watermelon colored Christie Craw with 1/4 oz bullet weight, TX rigged
Watermelon colored Senko, TX rigged or wacky
1/4 oz chartreuse/white spinnerbait
2-3/4" Bass Pro XPS Rattle Shad, Steroid Shad color
Whites-
1/16 oz chartreuse grub tied to main line, with 1/8 oz red head, white twister tail Roadrunner tied about 15" behind that.
Launcher cork with small size Pet Spoon tied about 18 inches behind
Striper/Hybrids-
Haven't caught many, but ones I have were on the Pet Spoon rig or with live perch on bottom
Crappie-
Minnows on Tru-turn style hook
And same chartreuse grub/Roadrunner rig as above
Catfish-
Noodle type Jugs with carp cut bait
Rod/Reel with small treble hooks and Sutton's Catfish Bait
Thought I'd share what is working for me so far. I'd appreciate any help from you guys! Thanks!
