New kayak owner

Post by H20too »

I am not new to fishing, but I am new to kayak fishing and I would like to try flyfishing as another option. I am looking for suggestions for beginners setup. I will fish rivers, lakes and saltwater so I would like a rod that will preform (somewhat) equally well in all situations. That may not be possible, but it's why I'm asking for help. Also, are there available "casting classes" in the housron/galveston area?
Thanks!

I love TFO rods. Great bang for the buck, great warranty and service, plus based in Texas. For a 'swiss army knife' rod for salt and fresh in Texas, I'd go with a 6wt, 9' rod. Should get you what you need other than really windy days.

I'm sure some local fly shops have casting lessons. Or, you can read the best fly fishing book written - The Curtis Creek Manifesto - if you have a short attention span, spoiler: it's basically a comic book.

Thank you for your advise. I will check into TFO and see what they have to offer. I'm sure my wife is going to be thrilled.
