Can't sleep, going fishing this morning

Post by Tombo »

Who else is up? I get this way every time I plan on fishing the next day. I sleep better when I go fishing on a whim.
The day I stop getting excited about fishing, is the day I quit.
Dang Redfish, calling to me like sirens from Greek mythology. Pleading with me to spend more money on gear.

I'm up... but I'm not going fishing.

We went yesterday and couple a couple reds on the flats on tops. Mine hit a skitter pup in bream color. Have fun and yeah, I agree, always couldn't sleep the night before a trip.

That's funny, the same thing happens to me too!

On a fishing morning I literally hop out of bed...
Any other day I have to force myself to wake up.

This was supposed to be a fishing day, but sadly
I'm going to an 8-5 work-related class

I'm up too Tombo, but, unfortunately I have to go to work. :x

Good luck out on the water. Be safe and post pics of your catch!

Good luck Tombo. I'm sure that post-fishing nap this afternoon will feel good.

I'm in the same boat Tombo. Its amazing i never want to get up for work in the mornings, but i can never sleep before a fishing trip...go figure. I guess that's the difference of having to do something & wanting to do something

Yup, sucks. Hop into bed at 10pm. Think, Sweet, I can get 6 hours of sleep and be on the water well before sunrise. 12am....2am....3:30am. Still up. At that point you know if you go you're gonna be dog tired all morning. You imagine the paddle BACK to the launch fighting that unexpected east wind, then the miserable drive back home. Trip cancelled

Real short trip near my home. Watched the sun come up on a nice low humidity morning. Caught a nice 25" Redfish and a small drum. Turns out drum can be caught on a dark imitation crab. Bugg lure did not work out so well. Too much grass and the fact that the hook had broken off!

LOL Tombo, that happened to me last year on one of the LSKS days, hooked a nice red and lost him at the boat. chunked it back out to the shoreline and hooked another one, short run and pulled off, I was about going to try a third time and looked at my bait right before chunking to see the hook broke off at the bend. im going out tomorrow and planning a lot of rum tonight to help me nap.
