Rotag, there's still time to join us! It doesn't take much gear at all, but I imagine we're going to be out again in the future. A few of us do an overnighter (or more) a month. Looking forward to the float-illa.

Definitely not. You should just trade me your pro angler for a better suited river boat

Hahaha, that would be the day...

But he's right, a PA is too much boat for this river. You can check the river flow here for the Colorado River flows east of I-35. As you can see it is a "pulse" flow with max flow usually near midnight at <300 cfs and dropping throughout the day. This would be water let out at LBL. The gauge is below Hwy 183 about 1 mile downstream of LBL. It takes a few hours for the pulse to reach FM973 (10.5 miles below the LBL Dam), so the water drops throughout the float usually. Even at 250-300 cfs there are portions I will drag my Ride through to be on the safe side. I wouldn't recommend anything with serious draft or pedal power.

:( Forecast for Saturday not looking optimal. I don't mind some rain on the water, but thunderstorms not so much.

Hmm... rain forecasted all week means the water will be cold and cloudy. Not ideal for bass fishing. Folks- what're y'all thinking?

I have a family member coming into town and plan to do some hunting. The Roddy will be hard to fish when muddy. Unless you want some catfish on stinkbait.

If the forecast proves to be accurate (or even partly accurate) we have to reschedule. No one needs to be on the river with the conditions a forecast like that can bring. :(

I say if the forecast hasn't drastically changed by Wednesday evening, then we need to call this weekend a no go.

DNR and I are making a desision Friday night. Both of us are pretty much locked into this weekend. Hoping Mother Nature will let the trip go on.

I'm still holding out hope...maybe we can make a definitive decision Thursday evening? If we do postpone, my buddy and I are going to do the float on November 7th and 8th.

Hmmm... I can tell you from experience the Colorado is a finicky beast, and with pulse releases and flash flood warnings with possibly 6+" in some areas, y'all should be real careful. There aren't too many elevated banks to camp on for the Colorado in this area and a yak not tied off might disappear in the night.

I'm not gonna make it out either way, told the wife I'd watch the daughter Saturday morning for a few hours. Local EOCs are predicting this could get nasty. I hate that we'd have to reschedule but that looks like the consensus being reached.

Some projections are as high as 16" of rain in places. Most weather advisories are using the term "historic" flooding possible. I'm not liking the sound of that. So, instead I think I'm gonna go sit out in a field and scout for deer at the lease.
