While I have not used that particular charger I just purchased from Amazon a charger (http://www.amazon.com/Solar-Charger-Cre ... B00M10YD8W) that can be charged up either by USB or via solar. I plan on taking this along while fishing to ensure that I always have a charger that is ready for use at 100% charge. How well it works I will find out later since I have not had a chance to go fishing since I received it.

While I have not used the model you referenced I just purchased a cell phone charger that can be charged normally but also can be charged by solar. I got it from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Solar-Charger-Cre ... B00M10YD8w) for $28. While I have not had a chance to use it I was able to verify that it did fully charge using only solar power. I bought it to use while fishing so that I would always have a fully charged charger available for my cell phone.

The mophie charges work really well. I have the mophie case on my iphone to get me through the day and also have the universal one which will charge it several times for camping.

I bought the Goal Zero Nomad 7 a about 9 months ago. I have used it several times with no issues. It will charge any USB device and also 12V gadgets also like my VHF. That was principal reason I went with this one. I needed one that would do both the USB chargers and also 12V.
