sorry there isn't a tekota 400 size but a 300 with braid would be good.

Ever consider the alphamar from Abu. Really nice looking reel and plenty of line capacity. Plus it has an amazing 27lb drag max for the 12, 16 & 20 series. Still debating on whether or not it'd be good for the yak, but something to look into.

calcutta 400 is pretty awesome levelwind if you want to spend the money, spool it with 50 bound braid and you can land most fish you hook..

I have most of the reels mentioned if not all.

Nothing bad to say about any of them but I much prefer using something with a little more torque to it. (And i am not a fan of the Penn 309's at all).

Can't go wrong with a TLD 15 or an Avet though I know you said levelwind so I would recommend looking at Shimano TR200 (add a replacement power handle) if you want to stay chaep or maybe a penn fathom LW if you wanna spend a little more.

I actually have a shimano curado 300ej that I just got and used one trip (got quite a bit of kayak rash on top of it on this trip though) that I would sell at a good discount if you are interested.

Check these shimanos out man that's what I was catching them with yesterday and the day before. It has a super loud clicker good drag and casts super smooth. I caught a 7.5' bull shark with it recently and it handled that thing with ease. I almost like it more than my Avet, and you can not go wrong for the money.

calcutta 400 TE with 65 pound braid...its the Hunt For big Fish (larry Dalberg) go to for tarpon of all sizes...i liked mine before davey jones got a pretty gold reel :)

senators and tlds have the most records in the book..a 4/0 or tld 15 will serve anyone well (tino got his tarpon on a tld 15 with 40 pound mono)
