Well, after many "if only I could get out to that tree, cover, structure"s I have decided to leave the bank and get a kayak to fish. I live right next to Lake Lewisville. I've got a starter yak (Future Beach 126) and I've taken it out on the water to try out its stability. Soon comes my first fishing outing on it. I'm hoping to avoid too many "Man, I wish I would have brought X"s.
What would yall say are the 5 most important things I should have with me out on the water. (Excluding rods, tackle, anchor, drybag)?
Thanks

IMO you always get those "I wish I had" thoughts when you go fishing and also some "why did I bring X" thoughts and we all may be different.
essential-PFD, whistle, fluids (water and/or gatorade)
almost essential-anchor, paddle leash, plyers (to remove hooks), knife, fish lip gripper of choice
good seat is important if not attached. also I like a rope tied up front in case I wade or have to pull someone (or be pulled)
this is a start.

Band-aids and toilet paper are always handy. I keep mine in a dry box with my wallet, keys and cell phone.

Empty Gatorade bottle, if you know what I mean.
