Monday I'm floating up from the state park to some wide deep areas with over hanging pecan trees on both sides. I'll run some limb lines and jug lines lines and see what happens. My wife and I and a friend floated that area a month ago and it looked like some good fishing.

I fished a few miles upriver from the state park day before yesterday. The river is definitely low, the water greener than usual, not as crystal clear as I'm accustomed to. Still beautiful, with some decent holes. I mostly flyfished, and caught quite a few small bass and large perch on an olive wooly bugger. Also caught some decent fish on a green beetle spin. Olive green was by far the most effective color I tried. Also caught a good sized (maybe 6 or 7 pound) yellow cat on the wooly bugger, lots of fun on a 5 weight flyrod!

I hunted for several years in London. Our landowner's property backed up to a good section of the Llano. We would always go down to the river and just sit the lawn chairs in there and relax. Very beautiful area for sure.

We have a place upstream from the state park on the South fork. It is still recovering from a massive wildfire from several years ago. The river appears darker on this stretch due to the runoff associated with the fire (lots of dead, burned wood deposited into the river, covering up the limestone bottom and no major floods to wash it out). It has cleared up considerably in the last year though. We have had decent rain this year and the river is slightly up from the awful levels we saw last year. Everything has greened up, but we definitely need more rain. The fishing has been good. The last major fishing weekend I had was Memorial Day weekend. We had 8 guys and just killed it between the first low water crossing on 377 and Bailey Creek. Lots of 12 to 15 inch Guadalupes and a handfull of largemouth. Caught one largemouth I would consider a trophy for the South Llano. We had a three inch rain that weekend and the river rose about a foot...leading to us seeing more snakes than I have ever seen on that stretch as we fished the two days after the rise. It is a beautiful stretch of river though. There are many options for routes. There are two low water crossings upstream from the park. You can put in at the 2nd crossing and paddle upstream to a really nice waterfall and then fish your way back to the crossing. You can also put in at the 1st crossing and either come down to a county road just below Bailey Creek or to the state park. You can also put in at the park and head into Junction.

Thanks guys. I grew up down there but moved to colorado 20 yrs ago. So me and my two cousins are heading that way around the 12th. Due to space restrictions I may just bring the float tube. But we will see. Can't wait to wet a line.

Lots of places to rent kayaks on the South Llano, not sure about the stretch from Junction to London. I've used South Llano River Canoes on numerous occasions and can recommend them highly.

Ya I think we will be fishing the south llano due to water levels. I hadn't thought about renting a kayak good idea!

I did the S Llano from the first crossing to the State Park Thursday. I had a great time, except for it being about four hours longer than my back could stand. Not for the faint of heart if you are concerned about scratching your kayak.

We got there from time to time. It's a great place to paddle. Fishing is hit or miss but it is still the beautiful place it was. If you have any flexibility, try to hit it when the water level is up...as with all places I guess.

We use to Hunt Junction a lot. My dad rented the canoes mentioned and we ran the Llano. Was a great trip. Just watch for snakes sunning in the tree limbs. We wacked one with a paddle before it dropped in the boat. I like the tall river sides of clay and rock. I will take my son when he is old enough. Llano is a must.
