Monster Croc
This beast could definitely put the hurt on your yak
(Tombo sent the pix to me
Here's the story that came with the pix
-----------------------------
Point Noire is a place in Nigeria where Shell has numerous projects being done. Someone sent this to me who works there. It is real.
Imagine running into this guy in the bayou when he's bigger than the boat your in and definitely older and wiser. But I know we could land him, don't now how but we would figure it out.
This crocodile was on the beach in front of the Petroleum club, Plage Sportive. In Pointe Noire. 21 FT long, 4,500 lbs, around 80 years old minimum.
Specialists said that he was looking to eat humans because he was too old to catch animals. For the past few months in some villages close to Pointe Noire people were complaining that some people in their villages have been disappearing, could be this crocodile. This crocodile was killed by the army last Sunday at 3:00 pm, currently he is in the freezer at the Azur hotel.
can you say Louisiana gumbo?

Correction
Not to be picky but for accuracy's sake Pointe Noire is in the Congo. I was not aware that Shell had operations there but it's been 20 years since I was there last. They had some very good fishing at that time.
This is a great board you guys have. Thanks for all the tips and information.

Years ago near Cairns in Aussieland, I saw up close and personal a 22ft. saltwater croc. in a cage. The "Salties" are known maneaters, and all the small road bridges in the area have "no swimming" signs (no kiddin !) because of them.
The head on this brute was between 30-36" at it's widest point...a full grown man could easily slip down his gullet as easy as a noodle. Gave me a cold sweat just lookin at him.
Decided not to do any wade fishing...

BB,
In reference to the post of "what you will do this winter", this could be the reason you drink "copious" amounts of beer. It was all do the the 40' gator!
Maybe that is why they made the 40oz beers. Just for BB!

Yes, I'd never considered Post Traumatic Crocodile Syndrome. I'll have to mention that to my therapist.
Here's a scarier one!
Imagine this one in Butter!

Behind the crock was a large concrete section of a water drainage system (or something like that).Ray
actually a gator - the original caption said it was behind the Orlando airport but Snopes disagrees- here's the link

Many, many years ago, they were digging out a drainage ditch at the end of North L street in Lomax/LaPorte. It had originally been 4' deep but they were digging it out to 15' due to hurricanes/storms, etc... While the backhoe was digging, it pulledout 4 watermoccasins AT LEAST 8' feet long. My granny took pictures of everyone running away. They were, to this day, the biggest moccasins I have ever seen. They were FAT and LONG. You just never know what is out there.

according to "Gator Bill", the local state gator trapper for Titusville, the gator in the pic above was only 13 1/2 long and was taken in Hillsbough (?sp) county(near Tampa). Alot of stories had it at 18-20', but Bill knows the trapper who took it out and laid the tape on it so I'll believe him.
Florida record gator is 17'5" (1956), US record was just under 21', supposedly taken in the 1800's in LA. What's still lurking down in the Glades in the "croc" catagory... I really don't want to know about.
I dealt with a female on a nest this year while trying to get to a favorite tarpon hole. She was less than 10' long, but may as well been 100' long with the motherly attitude she was packing. Needless to say, no honey hole tarpon that day.....
