New rides are here :)

Post by RedWolf »

Well, it's official, Kelly and I both have our new yaks now and can't wait for a nice weather day to coincide with a day off for us. For myself, I got a Jackson Cuda 14 in the Limon color, and Kelly decided to go with a WS Tarpon 120 in light lime. Todd at FTU was very helpful and patient with us as we asked a lot of stupid questions and made our decisions as to what we wanted and how we wanted them rigged, and did an excellent job of installing the extras that we asked for.

Kelly's T120
Light lime color, added rudder, anchor trolley, 2 flush mount rod holders behind seat, universal base for slide trac for a scotty rod holder, and a yak-attack 6' park-n-pole. Powered by a 230cm Aqua Bound Manta Ray carbon paddle.

Hard to say but I think a new yak is almost better than a new wife......

Glad my wife isn't a member of this forum.

Congrats on the new rides, they look great. How well does the Cuda handle BTB fishing? I wonder how well its drains water out going through the breakers?

Yep, both will be in the back of my truck or on the kayak launch pad along with the Frenzy.

Tino takes his BTB and says it does real well, I'm still waiting on a chance to get mine wet with something other than a garden hose or a rain shower, but will definately post up once I get to run it through the surf.

Nice yaks!
I recently bought 2 Cuda 14s, a Black Widow for my son, and a Yellow Jacket for myself.
They are very nice boats and I love mine!! All I need now is a rudder!!!
Congrats on your new boats!!!!

Nice! If I ever switch back to a paddle type yak from my current pedal yak, a Cuda would be at the top of my list. I love the layout, seat, and colors. Congrats on the new rides.

I switched from a Hobie PA to the Cuda 14 for several reasons, first and foremost was the weight of the boat, was just to much to handle when I went out by myself. Second, while the PA can handle skinny water, it doesn't do so easily, and most of my fishing now is done in the bays/marshes searching for reds and flounders. Third, I've got a knee that is starting to go bad on me, and pedaling the Hobie all day was really starting to wear on that bad knee.

I have heard a lot of good things about those Jackson's. I would love to hear a few reports after your first voyages.

LMAO, she actually likes that little boat. But I am going to start looking for an upgrade for her soon.
