Little video I shot this weekend on the Colorado River
Alligator gar captured schooling on my Go Pro Hero in the Colorado River....Also at 7:40 in the video you will hear and see an alligator gar attack the camera twice, one of them hit it to were it actually rolled the camera, it was about five foot under water and i thought I hit a rock till I got home and watched the video. Sorry for all the dead spots no editing software yet.....Enjoy and let me know your thoughts!

We saw the same thing this weekend. It was pretty unreal. Had a few chase our flies but weren't able to hook up. I think they were longnose gar.

Those look like long nose gar to me but I could be wrong. The spots is what has me thinking they are long nose gar but like I said I could be wrong. Great video tho I enjoyed watching it

Very cool vid. Those GoPros do a good job.
I saw bunch of them out there too chasing my crankbait. They are fun to fight but I'm glad they come off before they get to the boat.

Yeah, I was thinking longnose too.
Really cool footage, man I loved the sound of the water and all the grass, felt like I was there.

Thanks for all the comments.....I believe they are Long-nose too. These were seen between the Colony and Little Webberville Park and there were tons of them all around me as I was shooting the video and it was an amazing thing to be in the middle of until a few of them got spooked and nearly landed in the boat. I will be heading to the coast Thursday and I hope to get some great video, if I do I will post it. You will also be able to see it on http://www.facebook.com/pages/Round-Roc ... 8866344972. Thanks again!

I'm not particularly into gar, but that was some great camera work. Almost like those Cinemax movies. Great job!

Thanks John, as for me I am not all that into gar either but had to take the opportunity to capture that footage. I will tell you what you don't want to do, and that is to spook one that jumps out of the water and lands in your yak....One almost did that to me and I am glad the camera was under water or I would have had to learn how to use the censor button. LOL Thanks againjohn381 wrote:I'm not particularly into gar, but that was some great camera work. Almost like those Cinemax movies. Great job!

NatGeo would have had a crew there for 2 weeks then edited the heck out of it. Your's is better.
