im looking for a line to throw big bugs with ease. ill be fishing for bass, gar catfish etc all in freshwater. ive read the sharkskin magnum shoots like a mother and picks up and casts with ease. only drawback is the price tag. i dont have any experience with the pike and bass lines though. i would think the pike line would push big bugs through the wind and turn them over even better than the bass line though. any suggestions? thanks

sharkskin magnum, pike/muskie or bass bug?
Re: sharkskin magnum, pike/muskie or bass bug?
Sharkskin line is noisy.
I've used the bass, and the pike, both with success. In the long run I've chosen the Bass.
Good Luck.

i can deal with the noise, that will not bother me. i have watched video reviews on the sharkskin and heard it going through the guides, its not a big deal to me. imo, the benefits of that line out way the noisiness. just wondering what other peoples experience with it are and if anyone has used that pike line for bass fishing before.

You might also want to consider Sage Performance Bass Taper. I have the 290 grain matched up with an 8 wt and it's an absolute canyon. No problem turning over big bugs.
Re: sharkskin magnum, pike/muskie or bass bug?
anybody tried the Rio Clouser line yet - I hear it is awesome - would have to be to turn over Clousers like I have Heard it would.
Re: sharkskin magnum, pike/muskie or bass bug?
ive gathered that the SS is hell on your hands and needs to be cleaned much more often than normal line. other than that its great. i was told the pike/muskie line is a coldwater line so that rules that one out for me too. i was told about SA's mastery textured series. the textured series is dimpled instead of raised like on the sharksin. supposedly it doesn't cast quite as well as the SS but is quieter and easier on your hands. anyone used it?
