Laker 18 A (Cuda)

Post by bowgarguide »

Well here we go again. this boat has had more curves than Marylin had.
I have started this boat 3 times and always stopped because it didnt feel right.I think I have it right now.
It will be based on the cuda 18 a Basically a long asymmetrical Laker 18 ft.
Will have my balanced decks and a few more little tricks.
Plywood is out the window and will build her with white pine and western red cedar .
Be a strip stitch and glue like the Duck
Started cutting strips today,I have a lot going on so this may be a slow build ,but it is started anyway.

Gerald
This is an 18 ft version of the boat I paddled at Castill and the Neches with you.
That boat was 15-5

I'll be interested in seeing this boat since my Outer Island is 18' long.

I hate wet and cold, have some strips done but its just not good weather to be building a boat .
I will take 100% any time over this mess.

Ok, I bought my yak from a dealer. I put holes in it, mounted accessorries, did all kind of things to it. Does it count as boat building.

I would say you are off and running! Boatbuilding is a clumination of little projects that ulimately end up with a sea-worthy vessel. You now know how to finish a boat you built yourself, so what are you waiting for? Go make some saw dust!

Ron-

I am looking forward to the build, I am anxious to see how the stripped sides turn out when you do them as a continuous run.

Have fun!

I think this boat should turn out pretty nice,It should be the best looking one I have built.
Got to try to start catching up with Pogo and some of the rest of the builders, dont think I will ever catch up with Gerald.
This should be an interesting build for me ,trying some more new stuff.
