M1966 Hammock
Ok, I have my Hennessy, and the other knock off summer hammock from the Army Surplus store,
BUT today I found a brand new M1966, I think I may go back and get tomorrow.
Heck, I don't even know this many people or even like that many.

Re: M1966 Hammock
It was dark and drizizln when I got home but I had to put it up anyway.
I hung it from the roof rack on the Cherokee and the roll bar on the Wrangler.
It actually goes up quicker than the Hennesy.
I played with an 8X10 tarp I have for a rain fly,,,, I LiKE....
I didn't have time to play with the skeeternet I have had, but will get to do that this weekend and get some pics up.
It is a bit snug, but it gets ya up off the ground, with a good tarp for a rain fly and a warm sleeping bag I think it will be fine....this fall and winter..we will see.

Why not just get a super big, multi mil trashbag, hang from a limb and jump in. Do not forget to tie the top closed.

Re: M1966 Hammock
I would love to try a hammock like the ones you been talking about before I buy one. Always concerned about finding trees to hang it from.

Jack,
I remember your photos of your jungle hammock. I just never knew what is called. Now, I know.

Hammock camping really works best when you are stealth camping by yourself, or with just one other person. And you aren't trying to set up a "camp".trouttracker wrote:"always concerned about finding trees to hang it from."
Each paddler finds two trees along the river bank and does a quick "stealth camp".
Then you meet up on the river the next morning.
