Screen name Significance
Hey yall I recently got to know a TFKer a little more due to his screen name. It was Javelina Russ and it turns out he is currently a student at the same College I graduated from. So I was wondering what everybody's screen name means or how they chose it. I personally chose BIGGabe63 because well my name is Gabriel and I am 5-11 300lbs thus "BIGGABE" and the 63 is for my older brother who is the starting right guard for the CHCICAGO BEARS and he is #63
Re: Screen name Significance

Re: Screen name Significance
The first kayak I bought in 2005 was a Mainstream Kingfish, so when I signed on, I used the name Kingfish. I wanted "Kingfisher" since that is the name of one of my favorite birds, but someone else had that name. The name has nothing to do with an actual kingfish since I have never caught a kingfish in my life (not yet). I still have that Kingfish kayak and also a Prowler and Manta Ray.
Kingfish
P.S. If you are old enough to remember the tv show, "Amos and Andy" my name has nothing to do with that Kingfish either, although he was pretty cool.

Re: Screen name Significance
Great thread! It's interesting to see the meaning behind everyone's names.
Renfish - My name is Renee and Ren is one of my nicknames. Ren loves to fish = Renfish.

I grew up on the coast and now I live in the Austin area. I started out long long ago as AustinJoe . I made a post that I was goin' coastal one weekend. I thought it fit so I change my moniker to GoinCoastal. That was before they switched the site long ago.

Re: Screen name Significance
Mine comes from a novel by Martin Cruz Smith in 1977 and was later made into a movie. He also wrote the novel, Gorky Park and that too was made into a movie. I've been using my screen name since 1979.

Vacationed in Florida (St. Pete area) a few years ago, Pirates are a big thing over there. We were in some bar one night and there was this game type thing-a-ma-bob, put a quarter in it and answer a few silly questions and it would tell you what you what your name would have been if you were a pirate.
Re: Screen name Significance
I have a very normal life that some might consider boring. My original handle I used on forums was my first and middle initial and last name.
Guess I had a virtual midlife crisis and decided to mix it up with something fun and unlike me - Frisky is my alter-ego online.
Not meaning to hijack the thread, but does anyone name their yaks? Perhaps your handle and kayak name go together? Mine is "Pursuit of Happiness" since that's why I paddle/fish.

Before I joined TKF I was picking a name for a poker site and I came up with Mythman.........when I joined TKF, to keep it simple, I just used the same screename.

Birth Name. Just lucky enough to have a Looney Tunes character with the same name to use as a avatar.

Kayak Kid..........I fell in love with kayaks and kayaking before most of you were born.
At over 70 years of age, I still feel like a kid (Let's Go, Double Dip, and Slowride think it's premature senility, but it's just youthful effervescence).
