Time for whites?

Post by eweberdc »

I was reading on the AKF site that the whites should start running. Do you experienced Central Texas fishermen think they've started on the San Gabe?

Growing up in East Texa, Valentines day or a little before was a good marker. Here in Central Texas I have not had any luck until later in Feb. and first of March.

Just remember it runs east to west. start reading reports, when they start hitting in East Texas, know that you are about 2 weeks away from start up here.

They have been ramping up on Travis for the past 3 weeks. Caught 45 males to 13" on small spinners and grubs in shallow water close to current this past Sat and the Sat before, same place same lures, caught 15 of the same size, the week prior to that, nada. The females should be following the males soon. Its safe to say that on Travis the run is starting now.
