Dual Trailer

Post by GULF COAST KAYAKER »

Is there a good turn key trailer for 2 Hobie PA14's? Thanks!

I think the only way you would find a trailer set up for 2 PA14’s is to buy a trailer from a Hobie dealer such as a Malone and have them rig it to fit your PA’s. That or get really lucky and fine one used. I’m not aware of trailers set up specially for any one type of kayak.

I used 4x8 utility trailer with some uprights and long cross bars works pretty well. I am in the process of making one for myself.

Definitely not turn-key, but Northern Tool sells an aluminum version of the 4x8 and 5x8 trailers. I got the 4x8 and built up rails using square aluminum tubing from Home Depot. Added the Malone Wings for support. Also got the Malone Mesh Cage that fit perfectly in one of the spaces. Also added a Malone box that slides out. I also got the higher speed rated tires.

Basically got a version of one of the Mega Sport trailers for a third of the cost. Assembly of the trailer is time consuming and the instructions were pretty lame.

As I said, not turn-key but a way to save money.
