Anywhere around the Austin, bastrop, Elgin area. Maby granger lake, bastrop lake, the San Gabriel. Maby even lake fayette. Anything around the area.

That's a big area. Lake Bastrop is a terrific lake to fish in the early months of the year since it's a small power plant lake. I like to fish it January through March. Around March moving to Fayette as it's a larger power plant lake, so March through May is a great time to fish it.

The lower Colorado from Longhorn Dam through La Grange is a really nice float. Decent put in locations and the LCRA River Guide Book has a lot of information in it. It's a great river for doing overnight camping trips.

The San Gabriel is another good choice between Georgetown and Granger Lake. CR 366 ( a little tricky to launch), CR 100, and CR 347 (referred to as "The Steps", and a little tricky to launch) are good access points. The San Gabriel Fly Fishers have a good map of fishing spots.

I was thinking of going to brushy creek in cedar park this Saturday... just to get a feel for my new kayak. I’ll probably take a rod or two and try and see what I can hook on to.

Nice info! I live in San Antonio and will be looking to camp and fish in these areas too. Won’t get my boats until the new year though...bummer.
