Well, Saturday I went straight to the bay and I caught a nice 19" redfish and a brute black drum. I'm guessing around 8 to 10lbs maybe. Then a storm blew us off the water. After a while I noticed the sky getting a bit scary so I got my phone out to check the radar. I had set my rod down with a popping cork and shrimp in the water. I went to put my phone up and I see my rod getting pulled across the yak! lol Was able to grab it before it took off and it was like I was hung on a tree limb. Then started running out to deeper water. I fought that black drum for 15 minutes while lightning, wind and black clouds crept closer. That bay got rough quick! Had to paddle to the closest shoreline and walk to the truck and drive back to get the kayak. Went to the coast and surf fished some. Had to rescue a sea gull that got tangled up in my friend's fishing line. He was ticked off. And yeah, they bite hard! Lol
Set up camp, grilled chicken and boiled some crab my friend's kids caught before the storm hit. Awesome weekend!
