Kayak fishing the Lone Star State...

Ive been floating the local bit of big cypress between Longview and Jefferson for the last few years. One of my favorite holes is choked up on the bottom with trees from a tornado a year or so back. I still fish it, but ever time I get the big bite, the fish gets under that cover and breaks my line off.. And that's if I don't get hung up on the crap on the bottom in the first place... Anyone got any tips?
