How come Google Earth doesn't show the rigs offshore?

If I had to guess (and it's only a guess), I would say it was cheaper where there isn't a lot of detail to be found. Kind of like deserts and large tracts of forestland.
There are a few places off of the Louisiana coast where there are, or used to be, hi-res areas at a few rigs. Maybec orporate donations paid for them?

You can see them in certain history images. Do a search for oil rig platforms in gulf and there is a great site to show you all of them on a map with gps.

Kickingback, I have only found the environmentalist list of the rigs, those maps do not have the GPS sites :(
