Winter time blues!
Kayak blue cats
Re: Kayak blue cats
Blues are aggressive catfish. A couple of years ago, I was trolling Rat-L-Traps behind my Hobie AI at Sam Rayburn in open water. It was a fast troll speed under sail. I started hanging one blue cat after another. Most were 2lb to 3lb fish. Unfortunately, I lost four Rat-L-Traps because my line would occasionally wrap around a barb and snap. Note to self -- bring leader material to Sam Rayburn next time.
Personal observation: blue catfish are slimier than channel cats. If I let a blue flop on one of the Hobie trampolines, it took a lot of of scrubbing to get the slime off. Freshwater gafftops, these things, only a lot bigger apparently.
