Stake out Pole size

Post by tito82x »

Hello,

I'm looking to get a stake out Pole for my Tarpon 140. I'm torn between the 6' and 8'. I usually fish in 3'-4'.... sometimes 5' of water. Bottom is almost always mud but occasionally sand. Any suggestions or advice?

if you fish mud then longer the better.if your in 4ft of water with a 6ft pole the pole will be in the water before it does any good.

Figure on driving the pole at least 3' into the mud.

I carry two. One is an old graphite shaft golf club I bought at Goodwill it's about 3.5/4 feet long and the other is an 8' park-n-pole. Can use both for staking out and poling the flats depending on depth.

Thanks all! Wasn't sure how deep I would be driving the pole into the mud.

8’. If you are real shallow, you can always angle it in. I used to have a 6’, but like the 8’ one better.
