A turn of the tides, fewer fish for me. AP

Post by GoDoe »

The tide has turned for the catching and literally too. The tide has come down some and the water is getting dirtier. It is very difficult to find any water that I can sight fish in. The levels have come down enough in the last few days that the places I was catching fish are now barely covered with water.

I was bragging about how easy it was and that I might need to find a more challenging hobby. I quit going where all the black drum were because I was bored with them and wanted to find some reds. Well I found a more challenging hobby; its the same hobby just a few days later. I have caught 3 red fish total in the last 2 days.

There just isn't any water to fish that is clear enough to see fish in. I was sort of thinking about going back to see my drum but I know the water is gone so they are gone too. I don't mind the hard work and enjoy he hunt more than the catching but without many places to go hunt I am getting frustrated.

Yep, Mr. Cocky got me. Now I desperate to catch any kind of drum; red or black. Maybe tomorrow!

Humbly, John

John, Corpusfishing had similar reports today.

Chalk it up to paying dues.

A love/hate thing when that funk gets on you. Humbling for sure. But that makes the good times that much better!

Nice report. I love the fact how the conditions change so quickly in the saltwater. Keep us posted.

It's always a good idea to take a camera out with you (waterproof is good, but even your SLR if you take care with it).
Enjoy the paddle, enjoy the day. Enjoy the gestalt. The fish are gravy.
I ran out of things to prove catching fish a long, long time ago. Time on the water, time with family and friends are the important parts of a trip. Especially when you look back later at the trip.

"the fish are gravy".

That about nails it.
