Let's start a DFW kayak fishing org
Let's start a DFW kayak fishing org
I dont think one exists. I might be willing to work with others to start a DFW kayak fishing organization of some sort. Maybe a TKF chapter? There could be tournaments etc...
I've started businesses before so seems pretty straightforward.

*bump*
Moving to Plano from Saturday. Looking for the ACA groups, and fly fishing groups in the Dallas area.
Going to miss my saltwater fishing down here near Houston.

There is DFW Kayak Fishing Facebook Group. Also, Mariner Sails, the local Hobie Dealer, sponsors a kayak fishing group.

We used to have a DFW TKF group. It faded away years ago.

Does the fishing groups have kayak tournaments? If not do you know of any in the metroplex?Selfish1 wrote:There is DFW Kayak Fishing Facebook Group. Also, Mariner Sails, the local Hobie Dealer, sponsors a kayak fishing group.

Yeah, we had a pretty good group with monthly gatherings. Don't know why it faded away, we had some good times.RandallW20 wrote:We used to have a DFW TKF group. It faded away years ago.

Interested as well.
Re: Let's start a DFW kayak fishing org
There is a DFW chapter forum here. It hasn't been active since 2014 and i'm sure that if you registered in it you could get some action going with a little effort. As a case in point HOW (Heros On the Water) sprung out from it at the very beginning.
Stubbs has said he'll get it going again if you guys want.

Hey guys, Ray here, i live in North Fort Worth and have a couple buddies who i kayak fish with. We normally hit Eagle Mountain Lake and paddle up the Trinity from there. Definitely would be cool to link up with some other guys in the area (North Texas) to check out some new areas with.

Sure did. We had some great GTG. I stepped away due to busy family life. My son still speaks of you, Roger. He was like 5 or 6 and you were getting him acquainted with fly fishing.roger.simonsen wrote:Yeah, we had a pretty good group with monthly gatherings. I think what kill it was the little recession we had during that time.
Re: Let's start a DFW kayak fishing org
My son and I are new to the area and interested as well.
Re: Let's start a DFW kayak fishing org
Yes, there is still a DFW chapter but as Roger said last post was in 2014. If you login to TKF you can request to join the chapter otherwise it will not show up when you login. Below is a link to the forum page and the last posts.
It was nice when we had monthly meetings at various spots around town. Now that I am an empty nester I have more time. I still fish the area a bit but also involved with a river runner group and make a lot of trip with them and on my own down various rivers across the US.

Zero Gatlin checking in!! I'm over in Caddo Mills approx 15 min east of Lavon. I'm super interested in getting a yak friend or two!!!
Re: Let's start a DFW kayak fishing org
I’m interested as well. I live in Plano and usually fish out of my kayak at Lavon. I’m up for options though on other area lakes. I’m hoping to try Ray Roberts and Lewisville this spring.

I live in lewisville and would love to meet some new folks to go out with! I usually go to lewisville because it’s close but would travel. Message me or whatever and let’s go fishing. I’m going out for some crappie for awhile now that they’re hitting!
Re: Let's start a DFW kayak fishing org
I'm new to the forum, but interested in meeting up with anyone in DFW. I usually fish on Lewisville and Grapevine. Is this chapter a thin? I can't figure out how to find chapters...
