BTB This Weekend!

Post by kickingback »

Looks like VERY GOOD conditions for late Thursday the 24th all the way through the weekend and EVEN BETTER for the following week!!...

You need the pro version of the above website to see past a week in advance. From what I see it is ICE CREAM conditions all that week.
Swells 6-7 secs at 0.5'-1.5'. Sounds like it's gonna be a great days for BTB in Corpus!
Winds will be good on all days with it picking up in the afternoons, which could effect the swells...

I may try for Wednesday (5/30) or Thursday (5/31) right now I'm thinking after looking...

Well, I might be in for a Monday group if a group goes out. Been too long since I have hit the water.

With the storm in the Gulf I have scrapped this trip and will instead go the 1st week of June. Conditions look good for June 5-7.
Gonna go fish for some sheepshead and flounder at the north dike on Tuesday early morning to afternoon.
Launching after midnight to beat any straggler holiday crowds out to the cut.
Will try to get through the cut and fish the sandy shores next to jetty on north side for flounder and sheepies on the south side of the jetty. Will try for a slam with a side of sheepshead.

Fyi, fishing was slow this weekend, but went to MP and got a variety of fish including a large kingfish, snapper,Spanish, jack and 18 inch sand trout lol.

Conditions wasn't too bad, but it was choppy with the wind.

Fished Pins saturday and did not catch anything.

Next week Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (6/6-6/8) are looking good for me. Will most likely go then. Breakers are looking low but I have to see the wind trends this week.

Did MP on Saturday 9a-3p with a buddy. Jigging action was slow - very. 2 King hit our trolling artificials and we pulled one in (30"). Decided to Sabiki some butterfish and used that to hang at the bottom. Landed a 30" Cobia that went after the butterfish on the bottom.

Made our way back to the beach and saw swarms of seagulls at the 30 foot depth - action was on fire. Trolled with a butterfish on me kingfish rig and something pulled my line off the spool. Line held, but the hook didn't. Meanwhile, the fish finder showed nothing but black (or red) and schools of smack, reds and jack were all over with a couple shark circling the yaks.

We found some turtles in the surf on the way back ;)

Great day!
