Fishing SPI this week...

Post by vasquez4advocare »

Hey guys headed to SPI and look to yak fish that area for the first time. Any pointer/hot spots? Not sure how the fishing will turn out with the storm rolling through. Already have 4 rods rigged up. Silver weedless spoon, swim bate (gulp shrimp), popping cork, and straight live bate rod(Carolina rig)

If you mean SPI as in the national seashore, as of yesterday it was closed due to high water reaching the dunes. Best to call before you come down.

Bring the yak, but if you want some fun, Isla Blanca, a county park has a jettis system and the kingfish/jacks/tarpon/reds/spanish macks are hitting. Bring a rod you can cast a mile, RatLtraps and big spoons are the ticket, at night live shrimp under the lights and DOAs are the ticket.

In south padre u can go to dolphin cove at isla Blanca park and fish the coast guard station , paddle west into mexiquita flats, or fish near old causeway, u can cross the ship channel and head into South Bay
U can also fish at end of causeway fish that area , behind IBC bank u will have to park by causeway
KOA area has a sand flat next to it u can launch and fish from that area head to old causeway area
Parrot eyes has a launch there is a fee there but u can fish that area into the bay
Finally the convention center flats just watch tides it can go up bit sand is really packed u can fish alll that grass / pothole area

These are the areas in SPI

Let's go fishin.....Coco
