Rockport 4/28-4/29

Post by Ramcharger »

I will be in the Rockport area this weekend. It looks like the winds will be picking up. Any suggestions on some protected places to take the kayak? Wading is good also.
Thanks in advance.

Can't help with your request but nice size specks have been showing up about 930 pm each night at the pier by the Art Center. Live shrimp produced lots of limits lately in time to be home by midnight. Hope that helps.

Rattlesnake Point Rd and Howard Murph Memorial Park (aka Airport Park) offer the best protection from SE winds. I would go to Rattlesnake Pt Rd and work my way to wards the point.

I have not fished that area. I have been wanting to try it. When you mention working towards the point. Is that towards Redfish Lodge?

Thank you.

Went fishing yesterday, wind was brutal on way back with small waves in the open bay. Winds will be worse Friday and Saturday.
The kayak park behind the airport has much better protection from the wind due to landscape of the trees and homes.
My PFD was stuck like glue to me yesterday.
Try to avoid open bays and the wind driven waves are relentless.
