"This is my paddle! There are many like it but this one is mine!!"
Seeing a few posts lately made me think about this plus the fact it's been ten years since Capt. Jack directed me this way. Plastic hulled navy has come a long way.

Still have and use my first kayak when I started kayaking in 2003; a 2003 Wilderness System The Ride. Heck my "newest" kayak is now 6 years old. I've rigged all 4 of my kayaks nearly the same way as I started 14 years ago:
- rudder
- anchor trolley
- stake out pole
- Milk crate with 3-rod rod holder & 360 light holder

I asked last week said man about the wakerita and also about the team oso vs Tkf challenges. Gone are the days of fishing brown and root on at Wednesday by yourself and forget about fishing it on a weekend. I also remember Walker fishing in some of the most beautiful places and being just jealous.

Re: The old breed ain't gone yet...
I caught my first fish from a kayak in 2002. Found this site in 2008. There's definitely been a tectonic shift from people who simply want to paddle a kayak and catch fish to an entirely different breed of wanna-be YouTube star/sponsor chaser for whom fishing is secondary and paddling falls somewhere behind mowing the lawn and unclogging drains. Feh. Kids these days. Someone mix me up Old Fashioned and get my slippers.

I've owned 25 + power/sail/paddle boats/canoes/ and kayaks over the last 55 years.
I still think the best part of fishing is wading and paddling quietly. Sometimes the fish bite, sometimes they don't .....but the fishing is always great....catching or not.

I'm still here!
Re: The old breed ain't gone yet...
I am out traveling the west for now. Actually I am camped on the edge of Amistad . I will be back to saltwater when I finish this winter/spring travels. Gotta catch fish all over the country ya know.
Re: The old breed ain't gone yet...
Still at it. I've gone from my Yellow AquaTerra Prism purchased from Bruce at Canoesport way back in the late 1980's to my WS Commander 140 acquired in 2012 in the same building under a different name. I have zero interest in getting a power boat (although, I will bum a ride especially for a mothership trip and gladly pay for the gas and ice so long as I don't have to own the boat).
The old Prism still lives. It's now one of two camp kayaks out on the Matagorda Peninsula. I might see it once a year. My Heritage Marquesa is still around, too. I punched a hole in it on a weak spot with an oyster strike. My friend that has a place on the Brazos River said he could fix it and did. I said why don't you keep it there. He's fed a lot of folks including his family running crab traps and catching redfish in the kayak. My blue Blackwater Dagger resides in League City. It gets out with my friend's family out around Clear Lake. He had my Tarpon 140 for a while, too, but I got that back when my teenage daughter came to live with me. She takes it out with a friend that also has a Tarpon. I've only sold one kayak. I gave my uncle a great deal on a Hurricane 160 I got used in a package deal along with the Dagger.
My Commander 140 is pretty beat up. I've busted the brackets from the plastic that hold the low seat frame. That's okay because I haven't sat in the low seat in years. I put a tie down strap in place to reinforce the loose frame helping and hoping to keep the bench seat intact. I'll ride it until it won't go anymore. Though, it might outlast me.
