Hey, wake up!

Post by Piscator »

Been quite out there. I know it has been windy the last couple of weeks. Anybody been fishing? Has the water in the Neches cleared up any? Seems the water levels are getting back to normal.

Planning to go tomorrow. I getting tired of Keith Lake. The winds should be low in the mornings.

we went last weekend. water was so low you couldnt get on the flat and the water was chocolate milk. did bump a couple in the drains, but they were few and far between. the south end may be better, but the north end wasnt happening. id be curious to know what the siuth end looked like or the flat where you have to cross the pipe.

I heard from a little birdie a couple days ago, that the water cabbage is on the come back..... A buddy told me he has been seeing some in the star lake area and the flat just north of Meyers where the pipes cross the inlet.
Also back in Meyers flat, there is some sort of grass growing up like 12 inches above water level. Ive never seen such since ive been fishing there. Its scattered out like maybe a blade every 20 or so feet. Im ready for some saltwater intrusion........

Before Ike Star Lake was about choked out with the cabbage and the water stayed gin clear. Cussed it 15 years ago till I learned the redfish loved it.

I found some supercharged lower slot redfish in the back of Bessie Heights yesterday morning, they would absolutely smoke a topwater, a lot fun catching them only spooked one that had any size to it but that's ok still had a blast catching them, tons of baby shad back there they are feeding on

Have not yaked in a while but did go last sunday on the souther end of Sabine and WHACKED the trout! only fished for about 2 hours and had a 3 man limit and caught well over 100 trout. I hav never seen them as aggressive as they were that day. Going to try and fish a place I havent fished this year this weekend or soon, looking for some tails!

Way to go, Dave! I've been getting into some upper slot crawlers at Texas Point the last 2 weeks. The wind has been a blessing.
