Big carp on light tackle can be a blast, I've even considered targeting them just for the fight.
About 5 years ago I foul hooked a 25 lber just in front of the tail fin and it took 40 - 45 minutes to land it on 6 lb. line with a little Daiwa spinning reel. My arms were sore for two days.
Some of the fly fishing groups are promoting fishing for carp for the fight because many trout areas are affected by whirlings disease.
