Myself, my son and BOPGunner will be at Bluebonnet on Friday afternoon. We will be in two vehicles and will need to be transported VIA the shuttle bus.

Cute age. Ought to provide us some entertainment, lol! Will be nice to see you again -- haven't since you took the new pirouge you'd built out to Stubblefield.

I hate to do it but I am going to have to put myself as "unlikely". My father was found dead at the age of 93 in his Nacogdoches home Wednesday. The funeral will be next week and I will be in two different towns next week taking care of associated business plus time with out of state visitors.

It is unlikely I will have time to get packed. If not I will arrange everything and Lynne will take care of things at the launch. I have every confidence in her and I will try a last minute save myself if possible.

Had a chance to drive by the 973 crossing. It's a no go for now. Good note, the water is just about cleared up.

Couldn't get a good pic of where the old access point was. It's blocked off for now.

Can't wait till Friday!! Looks like we will have a good group at bluebonnet and a better group for the trip! :)

Just realized I haven't bought my fishing license renewal yet, guess I'd better get by the store and buy it so I can fish on this trip!

I'm trusting that I can just follow one of y'all to the launch point, as long as I can make it to Bluebonnet. I don't really know my way around down there very well.

If I remember correctly, just turn right out of bb and head north. At the "t" take a left and the launch is on the north side of the river.

Shouldn't be hard. You'll be coming down I-35 and can take the TX-130 toll road:

https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Jarrell ... !3e0?hl=en" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Getting to the launch is easy. We just turn right onto FM 1209 when we leave Bluebonnet, drive a few miles to where it dead-ends into FM 969. Make a left on 969 and the bridge is just a short way. The boat ramp is on the right after crossing the bridge.

I hope we have an expert to lead the caravan to Fisherman's Park for the shuttle, lol!! Doesn't matter........somehow we always get split up from the leader anyway and some of us find ourselves lost and turned around until we see a truck we recognize. Right Milret? Hirsch?    Last time I think we took a little different route and it seemed smoother. And...........looking at Google Maps it appears totally simple. (But hey!! .....I've got my new iPhone 6 and SIRI will find it!  )

I am truly the world's most disorganized person! Trying to get started on packing stuff. It took me several hours to find my tent! Turns out it was in the bin with my sleeping bag after all. I guess I need new glasses too.

Now to come up with a menu for the trip...

     Been there; done that. Where I used to blame it on being scatter-brained at times.... I'm nearing the age to fear more the Alzheimer's!

Menu for me hasn't been decided, lol. Knowing you'll be there to guarantee a roaring fire, I'm tempted to think "T-bone", lol. On the other hand, I just bought a Jet Boil Cooking System; so that's a new toy that must be played with!!!

Don't FORGET to buy your fishing license!

I double-checked with some that had shown interest in joining us on this trip; no new additions to the above count.

Does anyone know what county we will be in?

It looks like there is currently a burn ban in Travis County, but not in Bastrop County? Just not sure which we'll be in...

Google Earth indicates we will be in Bastrop County.

What is the shuttle arrangement?

SHUTTLE SERVICE CHANGED:

I've changed the plans on the shuttle service and got a better price from a $20 /ea (non-negotiable, lol) to $5 / person....but (like the others) their times for reservations will need to be strict and we MUST have our vehicle's at Fisherman's Park and ready to shuttle back to the 969 launch at 9:30 AM on Saturday morning!!!!!!!!!!!! We need to adjust the time of our off-loading accordingly so we can get our vehicles there..... if we miss it, there are no other times until early afternoon and these services may be booked by then. From what I was told by the first one, there are other groups doing different river sections and being the "off-season" with less employee's they weren't ...uh...prepared (?).

I know there will be two other little groups of 5-6 planning to camp on the island on Saturday night. Plenty of room on the island.

We'll be using Rising Phoenix Adventures for the shuttle (512-677-2305). I told Jamie we were with TKF and she gave us a group rate of $5.00 per person ('course we usually add a little tip, lol). They will already be at Fisherman's Park off-loading another group going out from there at 9:00 -- and will load us up to return us to the 969 bridge at 9:30 AM so they can be back at Fisherman's by 10:00 for another group.
