Village creek camping trip invite

Post by FishingSETX »

I'm thinking of putting together a 3-4 day trip on the creek in august/sept if I can get enough interest. Probably do the whole thing from 418 to Lakeview. Anyone interested?

I'm also looking at a trip on the upper part of the creek above 418. Its a 15 mile stretch that I would budget at least 3 days for as I don't know of anyone attempting it in years. Looking at Google earth, it looks like there are quite a few downed trees and shallow areas that might require portaging/dragging but I would bet that you wouldn't see or hear anyone else on the water. Might be fun!

Ok ,

I rode up to the launch I was thinking about on the north end of the creek and it will be simple to launch there. Still debating on whether to try it due to the number of Skeeter's hanging around the launch!!!!! Never had a problem with them on the lower portion of the creek.

Still waiting to see if anyone is interested before setting dates. This will probably be a Friday to Sunday trip. There are plenty of take outs along the way if you only want yo do an overnighter and there is a good possibility it'll be from hwy 418 to hwy 96 if its only 3 days.

Right now its higher than normal but if we don't get any rain, it should be normal to low

I prefer it to be a little low for trips. Makes for better sand bars and the fishing is better

The trip will be the weekend before labor day. 8-22 to 8-24 and putting in at hwy 418 and taking out wherever we end up on Sunday afternoon. Probably take out at hwy 96 but could be baby galvez if the fishing is good.

OK here is where the trip stands:

If I can find at least one person who wants to do the trip, I'll do it.

If I can't find anyone to do the two night trip and someone wants to do a single night, I'll go that route.

If I can't find anyone who wants to go, I'll probably do the two nighter solo.

George and I are good to go if my grandsons don't come out of the oven that week. They are due the following week but you never know. Good for 1 or 2 nights could be in your area around 5 pm on Friday.

Hey jeaux, just got off the phone with a buddy of mine. If we can line up a kayak for him, we'll be launching early Friday morning. Y'all are welcome to come. If you launch Friday afternoon, you can probably catch up to us before dark. We'll be doing quite a bit of fishing so we should be moving pretty slow. It'll be good to see ya'll again!

I have a sit in Heritage Feather Lite 9.5 that he is welcome to use. It is 30" wide and has a 300lb capacity rating. Great 39lb yak.

Launching at 7:30 am Friday morning at hwy 418. Taking out wherever we end up Sunday afternoon. Anyone who wants to go let me know. Plenty of places to meet up Saturday morning if you only want to do one night.

Had an awesome trip. The fishing was unreal. Lost count (at 40+ each day) but I'd estimate the two of us caught over 150 bass in the first two days alone some over 2 lbs and a few 3+. Along with 2 crappie that measured 12+" and one catfish about 3 lbs. Also caught too many perch to count. The weather was beautiful and the water was perfect. I'll post a few pics after the gear is cleaned and put away.
