I think some 12" wheels and tires would be better
Re: Post your trailer!!!!
Ditto, its light, easy on parts, and its galvanized. Should last you for years.Fin-Addict wrote:I think some 12" wheels and tires would be better
Re: Post your trailer!!!!
I just listed my trailer in TKF classifieds.
Never mind, it is sold.

Re: Post your trailer!!!!
The tires that came on the trailer are almost new. As soon as I need to replace them I think I will go to 12 inch wheels and tires. I'm going to repack the bearings and check all that out, but for now I'm going to run these 8s for a bit. Thanks for the replies!

Hobie PA 12 and the trailer I bought from a TKF'er out of Houston.
Re: Post your trailer!!!!
Almost done. At least I can haul them around now and figure out what I want to do next.
I have a fulton swing away tongue hinge to install next to give me more room in the garage.
I want some type of storage box too.
Thanks for the suggestions. This thread ROCKS!

Re: Post your trailer!!!!
Have some weird stuff going on with the trailer lights. For the trailer lights to function, I have to crank the car and turn on the headlights. I can also turn the headlights right back off and they will continue to function properly. If the headlights aren't turned on, I get the left blinker only or nothing at all. I reworked the ground but it's still weird.
I also wish the speed warning was on the tire, not the wheel. I'm also assuming the tire is the limiting factor and not the wheel. If so it gonna be a very long drive to SPI...
Other than that I took it for a 25-30 mile spin and it seems to track really well...

Re: Post your trailer!!!!
Progress. I musta changed my mind a billion and 1 times!!! Lol
I'll probably will do that eventually but for now... What size wheels are those? Where did you get the new hubs? If I go bigger than 12's on my trailer, I'm going to have a hard time finding a drawbar with enough rise to get the trailer to ride halfway level. I found one (drawbar) with a 5" rise (3" more than what I have) and I still don't think it's going to be level.
I just sprayed the warning label with WD-40 and wiped it off. Now I'm safe.Pee Row wrote:Kinda why I did this....BKT wrote:I also wish the speed warning was on the tire, not the wheel. I'm also assuming the tire is the limiting factor and not the wheel. If so it gonna be a very long drive to SPI..

Re: Post your trailer!!!!
It's amazing how just when you think you have your kayak trailer perfected, you find another idea or possibility. I started with the Harbor Freight 40"x48" and went through two different, what I thought were good ideas, but I still didn't have any place for my "stuff". Hence, Version 3.0 complete with the top 15" of a chemical tote cage to contain my coolers, storage crates, etc. I can haul three boats easily and still no welding required.
You can also see my brand new Ride 115X in the background after it's maiden voyage. I give it two thumbs up!

Yes Ben. Unistrut it is. Sturdy and easy to work with for the non-welder.Volkswatson wrote:Nice one Scott! Is that unistrut for rack? How do u like it? I need to finish out my trailer...Onelgbass wrote:

Very nice. Are the Unistrut pieces about 6' long?
What is the upright railing made out of? Electrical conduit?

Loaded up the trailer with all 3 yaks. One to many to fit on the bed extender in the back of my truck.
Re: Post your trailer!!!!
Oh. I thought just the tubing with the holes was unistrut.Onelgbass wrote:JimM if you are asking me. It is all unistrut.

Hello everyone!! I'm a newbie and this my first post....
This thread has been great!! I appreciate seeing everyone's projects!!
For those that have used the small Harbor Freight trailer, and extended the tongue.... How long of tube did you use? Also what was the thickness?? 1/8" or 3/16th
Thanks in advance for your help... Tim
