I use this simple National Weather Service site which has for last few weeks rated the Colorado below Austin as a "2" which is
Satisfactory to float. "0" is unfloatable, "3" is Ideal and "5" is Flood. You will see it covers most major rivers in the state.

You guys are going to have some company on the river. I belong to a group here in DFW called Dallas Downriver Club (DDRC) and they just moved their Memorial Day weekend trip from the Lower Mt Fork in Oklahoma to the Colorado from Webberville to Bastrop. I expect they will camp on the big island on Sunday night. Sorry fellas I will not be joining them. I may be making a late decision tonight or early AM to take my family up to the Buffalo River in AR.

Yall, have fun

SYOTW,

Earl

Good luck on your truck hunt. DNR is only staying one night and wondered if anyone else was. He will check tomorrow. I think most, if not all except David are in for 2 nights.

Earl, sorry you will not be with them.

Aww man sorry to hear that, it's been a while since we've fished together. Maybe I can sneak down to goose island one of these days.

Also I don't know weither ill stay two days or just one, it depends on the fishing I guess but I'm bringing enough for two just incase!

John, does the Hobo Camp where y'all are staying Friday night require reservations? It looks like they are primarily an RV camp, that happens to allow some tents.

I haven't called them to make reservations, but I'm thinking I may try and join y'all there Friday night, if possible. I have all my crap together in one room, but getting it to fit into small enough space to carry on the kayak is another matter :). Maybe I'll tow a raft behind me.

Took my daughter camping this week at Huntsville State Park, my usual weather charm happened again and we had a fantastic electrical storm and about 3 or 4 hours of heavy downpour, let's hope it doesn't repeat this weekend :).

Looks like it will be somewhere around a 3 1/2 hour drive for me.

No reservations required at Hobo Camp. Most Hobo's do not have phones.
They do plenty of tent campers. Most Hobo's do not have RVs.

I'd bring a tent this trip. There is some rain in the forecast. 50% today, 30% tomorrow and none on Sunday. Most of it will west of where we'll be. The "Future Rain" map show 1.25" for Austin but only .05" for Bastrop through Sunday.

Image

I'm bringing the good tent and some rain gear in case.

It's about that time. Getting it put togather and I'll see everybody tomorrow morning.

I learned a long time ago to always carry a jacket with you, even if its the middle of the summer. Learned a hard and miserable lesson when I was on a ruck march a few years ago.

as long as you're wearing quick drying clothes you'll be fine unless rodloos brings a tropical storm and cold front with him
