Kayaking the San Juan river

Post by oleyakker »

Any of you who have fished the San Juan... does it make sense to haul a yak up there to be able to use the yak as your watercraft on this river. My purpose is to cover more water than just the walk in access. I know a shuttle can be arranged there, but I don't know the river and not sure whether it really is practical to try and float in a yak.

Most people use Hyde boats. I find it much easier to fly cast from a hyde than a kayak.

However, I would use a kayak without a better option.

I think we floated 10 or 12 miles when we went, and it was awesome.
